Dictate needs an active subscription. If you haven't subscribed yet, start here. You'll get this download link by email along with a link that activates the app.

- Sequoia and up.
- Apple Silicon
- Native, no Rosetta.

- One small DMG.
One download, ever
Dictate updates itself. New versions install in the background via Sparkle: no re-downloading, and “Check for Updates” sits in the menu bar if you'd rather not wait.
While it downloads

Install
Open the DMG and drag Dictate into Applications.

Open it
Dictate lives in the menu bar, not the Dock. Look up, not down.

Activate
Choose “Activate this Mac” and enter the email you subscribed with.

Permissions
Grant Microphone and Accessibility. Nothing else is asked for.

Talk
Hold the key, say the sentence, let go. It lands at your cursor.
